The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 1 Cor. 2:14
Have you ever been in a conversation in which you felt as though you so desperately yearned for any particular person to get what was on your heart regarding the Lord? And . . . well. . . they just were NOT on the same page and didn’t share your heart or conviction or maybe they didn’t even remotely understand you?
- First of all, assuming the Lord placed something on your heart that is actually His truth; it’s a massive reason for gratitude that the creator of the universe has allowed your eyes to be opened to His amazing truths.
- Second, offer grace and patience. . . I know. . . so much easier said than done, especially given any myriad of circumstances. Let it be our trigger to pray. Pray that the Lord will open your eyes to know if you should continue sharing, and if so, what words to use. Or if you should stop sharing and wait, and listen to whatever the Lord might have for you. He’ll convey it to you in His time if He chooses.
- Remember that you are not that person’s Holy Spirit. Don’t fall for the belief that you can convince anyone of anything. That is the job of the Spirit of God. I think the passage makes that pretty clear.
- Ask the Lord to protect you from taking it personal when people don’t understand or support your beliefs. Remember that it isn’t up to you or about you. It’s so much bigger than any of us. It’s a spiritual and heart issue.
I’d like to know if you can relate to this yearning for others to understand and share heart convictions. Can you?
